Developing Capability

Building high performing teams

Crisis Management Team

The management of crises is becoming increasingly important for modern businesses due to the growing range of risks that can disrupt operations, harm reputation, and impact long-term success.

A high performing Crisis Management Team (CMT) is not a nice to have, it is a necessity for most businesses these days.If you need to build a CMT, we can develop a bespoke crisis management plan tailored for your specific business needs.

Our crisis management plans are aligned to international best practice including ISO crisis management guidelines and technical standards, as well as Australian Government guidance documents on crisis decision-making and organisational resilience.

Our crisis management plans also integrate a variety of cognitive tools and aides, many that are based on our own research, to help reduce cognitive overload and enabling people to make faster and more informed decisions under pressure.

Our crisis management plans will provide you with the frameworks to confidently manage a crisis, including a set of templates such as role cards, checklists, aids-to-memory, decision templates and consequence management maps.

Linked with our exercise management programs, we can also train your CMT on their new plan in the context of a simulated crisis that could impact your business.

If you need to build crisis management capability, get in touch with us and we would be happy to discuss how we can support your requirements.

Emerging Issues Team

Businesses are increasingly turning to Incident Management Teams (IMT) and Crisis Management Teams to manage issues that are not yet, but could turn into incidents or crises, as well as a range of other challenges such as major project risk management or large innovation agendas.

While the rigour and structure embedded in these teams give leaders comfort the issue is being managed, relying on these teams for emerging issues can undervalue their role in an actual incident, emergency or crisis. Depending on duration, it leads to fatigue for those personnel, just when you need them the most.

In these situations, you need something beyond the IMT, you require an Emerging Issues Team.

Our Emerging Issue Teams use structured analytical techniques in a systematic process to not only explore the consequences of emerging issues, but also identify potential opportunities and importantly, manage those issues. We embed risk and consequence management, divergent thinking, prioritisation, decision-making and other techniques into the process to give leaders the same comfort that the situation is under control, without compromising the IMT or CMT members.

An Emerging Issues Team is not just a temporary team drawn from the business resilience team, they are best deployed with subject matter experts from across the business that can bring different expertise and cognitive diversity to solve complex problems.

An Emerging Issues Team is not limited to exploring global issues such as climate change or the Strait of Hormuz crisis and the potential impact on your business. The team can explore emerging issues for major projects, future workforce or industrial issues, and issues with AI or cybercrime.

If you are looking for a capability beyond the IMT, get in touch with us today.
